18- 36. Only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post with usual age relaxation to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Communities (For other conditions regarding age relaxations, please see para (2) of Part II General Conditions of the Gazette notification).

1. Graduation in Science with Physics as one of the subjects conferred/ recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala. or B.Tech awarded/recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala. or Diploma in Engineering after undergoing a regular course of study of three years with three years professional experience in Central or State Government service or in Public Sector Undertaking or Registered Private Sector Undertaking after acquiring the basic qualification prescribed for the post, in the field of Engineering in which the candidate has earned the Diploma. [Experience in the department of Legal Metrology shall be considered equivalent to professional experience. ] 2. Must be able to speak, read and write Malayalam.

The Ranked list published by the Commission in response to this notification shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year provided that the said list will continue to be in force till the publication of a new list after the expiry of the minimum period of one year or till the expiry of three years whichever is earlier. Candidates will be advised from the said list against the vacancies that may be reported to the Commission during the period of currency of the Ranked list. Rule 10 (a) (ii) of Part II of KS&SSR is applicable. In addition to the qualification prescribed in the notification, the qualifications recognized by executive orders or by Standing orders of Government as equivalent to qualification specified for a post in the Special Rules and such of those qualifications which pre-suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post shall also be sufficient for the post. The Government orders regarding the equivalent/higher qualifications shall be produced as and when required by the Commission. The Degrees/Diplomas awarded by UGC approved Universities or Institutions established through an act passed by Parliament/State Legislative Assembly in accordance with the conditions laid down in G.O (M.S) No.526/PD dated 17.07.1965 are acceptable for appointment in Government Services. Probation:- Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years. Training:- Every person appointed to the post of Inspector of Legal Metrology shall have to successfully complete the Basic Training Course as specified in the Legal Metrology Act,2009 (Central Act 1 of 2010) or any rule made thereunder if he had not undergone that training previously.
